RC News

Oh the “Magic Mile”, I always like going to there to race. Ever since the first time I made a lap there I have liked that track. My first two races in Louden were great races for me which as a racer always makes it fun to go back to and something to look forward to when you run good at a track. My expectation and anticipation was high coming into the weekend for the very reasons as I just said above. I also enjoy going to that area in New England and that always makes the trip better when you look forward to going to a place you have fun at off the track. As we fired off for the first practice scuffing are race tires in I couldn’t wait to put on are practice set and get going and putting in some good laps and getting to work on our race set up. Chicagoland

I finally feel like we were on a roll after the last few weeks and when we first got to Chicago the cool weather and atmosphere being the first race in the Chase had me fired up to get racing. We got to the track a little early to do some media and once that was done we headed across the street to watch the off road truck races. The track was right next to where we raced a SX race at the dragstrip in 2000. Bubba was in the truck race and did pretty good especially since it was only his 2nd time racing one of those things. You could really see as the race went on how he was using some of his moto skills in looking for lines and setting guys up. It got really cold so we headed out since we had work to do the next day. We again unloaded good and had it going good in practice. We again qualified good and just missed another pole by I think 7 hundredths. That shows you how close car racing is compared to moto. I can’t tell you how many times I look at the speed charts and can’t believe how close the field is. Another reason I was excited about the race is because we were running a new paint scheme for the race promoting the Monster Energy Cup race in October. Read the rest of this entry »

I talked a little a couple weeks ago about my charity golf tournament that benefits ECHO. I really can’t say enough about the organization and how much they do to help local families in need here in Tallahassee. It really is a great organization made up of some special people who work really hard to make a difference in our community. So this year I was again looking forward to the tournament and contributing to the cause. We had another great turn out and I am really proud of how well the group did putting the event together. You would think the logistics of a golf tournament wouldn’t be that difficult but when you see it all come together and how many people are involved you really appreciate the hard work of a small group of dedicated people many who do it for free and sacrifice their time to help make it a great event. To everyone involved a huge thanks and I can’t wait to do it again next year and make it even better! Read the rest of this entry »

Richmond Nationwide

September - 12 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Everyone I know in NASCAR loves Richmond. It is one of the tracks everyone talks about so when I got the opportunity to add it to our schedule this year I was really excited to get there and check it out. One of the reasons was it is one of the few tracks I haven’t raced at yet and anytime you get the chance to try something new is always exciting. That would for sure be the case for Richmond as everyone says it is one of the harder tracks to figure out. So with that being said I went there with realistic expectations and just wanted to run all the laps and learn as much as I could. Read the rest of this entry »

Coming into Atlanta I felt like we had been making progress the last few weeks and thought we were due for a good run. On top of that Atlanta is a special place for me. It’s close to my home in Tallahassee and I have had some great success racing moto in Atlanta. Because of all those things I have a bunch of fans in the area so I always have a good vibe whenever I get the chance to race there. I have also raced good there the last couple races so to say I was excited to get racing is an understatement. We flew up on Thursday and headed to the Atlanta Braves game with some of the Monster Energy staff from the Eastern Business Unit. We ran into Todd Bodine and Ray Dunlap there among a few others. Ray talked us into this game “new ball” and it ended up costing me some money but it was a fun way to pass the time during the game.

One of the best parts of my job especially at this point in my career is having the ability to give back in some really cool ways. To have the opportunity to make a difference in someones life is a very special thing and one that I am proud to be in a position to do. Whether it’s going to Walter Reed or racing for a children’s hospital or just being able to help out with some words of encouragement to a fan at the track I truly believe giving back is the best part of what I do. So when I was approached to help with a local charity here in Tallahassee that I was told would help local families I was all for it. ECHO is a special group of people and I learned first hand after I agreed to help out how much they really do. Keith Gaskins and Jim Harrison, a couple of ECHO’s board members, were kind enough to tour me around ECHO’s locations. It was amazing to me to see how many people they could positively affect with so few resources.
